With spring here, and the spirit of digestive health and spring cleaning very much on our minds – we thought we'd deliver a recipe that helps clean it all out.
Regularity is a big part of skin health. Foods rich in fiber, that are both internally hydrating and cleansing help move it all through ultimately helping to balance out our physical, mental and skin health. The beauty industry likes to ignore the fact that the foundation of skin health comes from within. There is no cream, serum, or treatment that can truly change the way we feel about ourselves – and digesting properly will make you feel good!
Apples, cabbage and fennel are a few of natures great cleansers, combined with cilantro for a flavorful and detoxifying boost. Add avocado because... avocado always. Cabbage is rich in insoluble fiber, which keeps the digestive system healthy and helps feed our guts good bacteria. Apples, are rich in pectin – well known for promoting gut health.
Bright, crisp and refreshing – this is delicious on its own or served as a side.
Detox Salad //
1/2 head shredded cabbage
1 - 2 chopped apples, we like fuji
1 handful cilantro, chopped
Pinch of sea salt
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1/2 avocado, chopped
1 tablespoon jalapeno, diced
1-2 tablespoons olive oil, optional
1/2 cup chopped almonds, or cashews for extra heartiness
Toss all ingredients.
Don't be afraid to get your hands dirty, and give it a massage. Good right way, or the next day!
