THE BALM // And how you can use it.

That... and a little bit of coconut. 

We all know that beauty is only skin deep and that external attractiveness has very little to do with internal goodness or essential quality. What goes on with our skin is often a reflection of what is happening to our bodies on the inside. The skin is regularly overlooked, but it is one of the largest organs in our body. It took me a long time to understand the importance of using only natural skincare; what gets on the skin gets inside the body. I now feel repulsed when I look at the ingredients in most skincare. If ever I do use something that is less than natural, I can actually feel the toxic weight on my body; I’m now so in tune with my skin that I can tell it is dry because of stress or hormones and more hypersensitive during times when I am more emotionally sensitive. If you listen to your body, it will tell you everything that you need to know. Finding joy in life is the way to glow—so to that extent, what happens on the inside is reflected on the outside.

Despite how it may appear, the cosmetic industry is very dirty—rampant with synthetic dyes, fragrances, stabilizers, and animal cruelty. There is substantial evidence proving that what we put on our bodies can be harmful and even toxic. The irony behind much of the cosmetic industry is that it is so heavily marketed to women—yet what makes us beautiful may actually contribute to the rise of breast cancer, birth defects, and infertility.  When you start to educate yourself about the toxicity that is in a simple jar of lotion, you’ll probably be more empowered to consider and create what goes on your body.

Coconut oil is a cosmetic phenomenon. The options are endless, and they really work.

Here is a simple program for using coconut oil or THE BALM as a face wash. Oily skin. Dry skin. Acne prone skin. Aging skin. Weathered skin. No matter what skin your in this cleansing routine will change your life!  


1 tablespoon coconut oil/ Nucifera The Balm

1 warm, wet washcloth; you can add an essential oil like lavender or peppermint to the washcloth to either relax or wake up your face.

Massage oil onto your face for at least 20 seconds. It is safe to use on your eyes to remove any eye makeup.

Wipe off makeup. Lightly cleanse and exfoliate skin with a warm washcloth. You can rinse your face to remove excess oil, but do not wipe off all oilleave a little on your skin and it will feel clean and glow. Use daily.

Makes 1 wash.

If you have extremely oily or acne-prone skin, try adding a little tea tree, oregano, bergamot, or rosemary essential oil.
